A watercolour art painting reproduced in print. It portrays an RAF Phantom jet making a low level pass over the Lake District. Phantom F4 aircraft were frequent visitors to the skies above the Cumbrian fells. They were the RAF’s front-line fighter jet aircarft during the 1970’s and 1980’s. Phantoms flew low level training exercises through the Lakeland fells. Flying as low as 150 ft, they made a thundering sound as they weaved through the steep valley terrain.
In this painting, the Phantom F4 is seen climbing away from Borrowdale in Cumbria, and approaching Lake Derwentwater.
