Description

A high quality, giclee print reproduced from an oil canvas. This aviation art print, illustrates Avro Lancaster Bomber at RAF Coningsby, taking off for another night-time bombing operation over German targets. RAF Coningsby was just one of many Bomber Command bases in Lincolnshire during World War Two. The base operated Lancasters of 83, 97, 61, 619 Squadrons as well as 617, the famous ‘Dambusters’ Squadron. Lancasters from Coningsby also took part in the ‘thousand bomber raid’.
Sadly, a total of 55,000 personnel in Bomber Command lost their lives on many such dangerous and daring bombing missions. Exposed to heavy flak and German fighters, life expectancy in Bomber Command was short. Today, RAF Coningsby is home to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, home to Europe’s only airworthy Lancaster.
Print only though can be mounted and framed upon request. Additional postage costs may apply.
